Emily is originally from Carrboro, North Carolina. She has been in the restaurant industry for 10 years, starting out her career as a hostess at Elmo’s Diner in Carr Mill Mall. It was this introduction to the industry that helped her realize she really enjoyed working in restaurants. The challenges, problems, and rewards that each day brought with them are well suited to her problem-solving personality. After finishing her time at NC State, she stayed in the industry, working her way through every front of house position before becoming a manager at bu•ku. Coming from a corporate background early in her career, Emily loves the contrast of the more hands-on approach the owners of bu•ku implement so she jumped on the opportunity to take on this new endeavor with them. She enjoys working along side of people she has a mutual respect for, as well as being proud of the products she sells. In July of 2017, Emily passed her level one wine certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
