Born and raised in Morehead City, North Carolina, Tolson grew up playing sports and working hard in the greenhouses at West Carteret High School. The combined duo of sports and hard work has molded his work philosophy and personality, illustrated by his perseverance. Hailing from New Orleans, Louisiana, the Kenney family is no stranger to the divine cuisine of the south. He began his first Service Industry job while still in high school, working under Beth Marshall, Wendy and Charles Park at The Beaufort Grocery Co. He considers himself very fortunate to be exposed to the service industry at such a young age as his interest in fine food and wine was sparked during this time. After moving to Raleigh, Tolson began working for bu•ku in 2012 and soon went from Sever to Bartender to Bar Manager, a position he has now held since 2013. In July of 2017, Tolson passed his level one wine certification with the Court of Master Sommeliers.
